Its smooth, polished surface is distinguished by the simplicity of its forms and a rounded blue cabochon set in the center of the lid, secured in a bezel setting.

Mexican silver piece attributed to Iguala de la Independencia, a city in the state of Guerrero located near Taxco, one of Mexico's major historic centers for silversmithing. The region developed a significant artisanal tradition during the 20th century, especially in the manufacture of jewelry and small silver objects. The "IGUALA MÉXICO 925 · IC-02" mark links this box to that silversmithing tradition, while its geometric design and blue cabochon reflect an aesthetic characteristic of small decorative accessories from the late 20th century.

Style: Vintage Mexican silver, modern geometric design.

Decoration/Motif: Geometric.

Period/Dating: Vintage, ca. 1980–1990.

Origin: Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico.

Hallmarked: Yes.

Materials: Hallmarked 925 silver and blue cabochon

Hallmarks/Punches: IGUALA MÉXICO 925 · IC-02.

Dimensions: 2.9 × 3.2 cm; height of 1.9 cm.

Weight: 8.56 g.

These items are not new; they show signs of wear and may have scratches and imperfections due to their age and use.
