Heart-shaped silver reliquary, which we date from the mid-18th century, with notable patina of time, this reliquary has the initials "S. Cayetano" engraved on one side and, with a little more difficulty in distinguishing, possibly " S.Donato" to the other.
Saint Cajetan, known as the patron saint of work and the unemployed, was a 16th century Italian priest. He founded the religious order of the Theatines and dedicated his life to serving the poor and needy, being recognized for his deep devotion and charity.
Saint Donatus, on the other hand, was a 4th century Italian bishop known for his bravery and dedication to the Christian faith during times of persecution. He is revered as the patron saint of several cities and professions, including bricklayers and potters.
The heart shape not only serves as a tribute to divine love and compassion, but also acts as a sacred receptacle that houses the spiritual presence of revered saints. Every detail, from the delicate filigree to the gentle curvature of the heart, reflects the meticulous craftsmanship of the era in which it was created. Although the interior may show signs of wear due to the passage of time, its value as a piece of devotion and religious art remains undeniable.
