Art nouveau brooch of a mythological griffin or dragon, gold filled and ruby

Art nouveau brooch of a mythological griffin or dragon, gold filled and ruby

Out of stock

This dragon or griffin brooch embodies strength, legend, and elegance. This antique brooch was crafted by the renowned French firm ORIA, which specialized in high-quality artistic jewelry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The figure represents a griffin, a mythical creature with the body of a lion, wings, and the head of an eagle—an ancient symbol of vigilance, wisdom, and power. In its beak, it holds a ruby paste, perfectly mimicking the inner fire of a precious jewel. The circle framing the creature evokes infinity, protection, and the eternal cycle.

The ORIA hallmark is clearly visible on the back of the piece. This French workshop, active between 1890 and 1930, was famous for its elaborate electroplating techniques and designs inspired by nature, alchemy, sacred animals, and the Art Nouveau movement. Oria worked with gold fill, a thick layer of gold coating a base metal.

This brooch is not just a piece of jewelry, but a visual manifestation of mythology, design, and craftsmanship. Ideal for collectors, lovers of symbolism, or those seeking a jewel with history, character, and soul.
