Historicism penannular fibula brooch in gilded metal, handcrafted, ca. 1940–1960
Historicism penannular fibula brooch in gilded metal, handcrafted, ca. 1940–1960
Out of stock
Medieval-inspired brooch handcrafted in gilt metal, with a twisted hoop, long movable pin, and polychrome cabochons. Europe, ca. 1940–1960.
Its design reinterprets the ancient typology of penannular fibulae within the historicist Medieval Revival taste. The twisting of the hoop, the individual settings, and the small irregularities in execution reinforce its handcrafted character. The colored elements are cautiously described as ornamental cabochons consistent with glass or paste.
