Victorian silver bird and circle brooch, symbol of love, 1900.

Victorian silver bird and circle brooch, symbol of love, 1900.

Out of stock

This Victorian silver brooch features an exquisite bird-in-a-circle design, both of which are loaded with sentimental symbolism. In the Victorian era, birds represented love, peace and fidelity, qualities that reflect a desire for eternal union and emotional security. Swallows, in particular, were popular as a symbol of return and safety, and were often used in farewell or remembrance jewellery. The circle, meanwhile, represents eternity and an unbreakable bond, and is a common motif on engagement rings or gifts of love. Circa 1900.
This is a piece of great emotional value and a beautiful representation of jewelry as a means of non-verbal communication at that time. A perfect gift!
