fbe geneve art nouveau locket in 935 silver enamelled elephant
fbe geneve art nouveau locket in 935 silver enamelled elephant
Out of stock
Early 20th-century Art Nouveau locket medallion, signed FBE Genève and crafted in 935 silver with guilloché enamel and enamel paint. Originating from Switzerland. The piece combines goldsmithing with artistic enamel in an unusual depiction: a white elephant on a purple background.
The reverse features a delicate lavender guilloché enamel with a radial pattern, while the obverse presents a miniature scene executed in vitreous enamel. The clasp functions correctly, opening a gold-plated interior with visible hallmarks, such as "FBE Genève" and "935," which guarantee both the quality of the metal and its origin, as well as the registration number of model 854.
During the Art Nouveau period, jewelry with enamels and naturalistic motifs gained great importance. This type of medallion, evoking sentimental or travel-related items, was used both as a souvenir and as a symbolic object of protection. The presence of an elephant, a symbol of good fortune and an unforgettable memento, reinforces its sentimental character and the exoticism so prevalent in the 1920s.
An ideal gift for those who appreciate designer jewelry, Art Nouveau collectors, or enamel animal iconography.
