Italian devotional medal of Our Lady of Miracles, also known as Our Lady of Graces, made of silver-plated metal and featuring an irregular, wavy-edged silhouette. The obverse shows a relief figure of the Virgin Mary with her arms outstretched, surrounded by an English inscription: “O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to thee”. The reverse shows the Marian monogram crowned with a cross, twelve small stars, and the two sacred hearts of Jesus and Mary. The composition combines pronounced reliefs with darkened backgrounds that highlight the details.
The Miraculous Medal originated from the Marian apparitions of 1830 to Saint Catherine Labouré in Paris. Its iconography became associated with devotion to the Immaculate Conception and spread internationally as a religious object worn around the neck. The twelve stars, the cross, and the hearts are part of its traditional symbolism. The inscription “ITALY” identifies the country of manufacture of this piece.

The photographs are taken with artificial light, so the color may vary slightly depending on your screen and lighting. If color is a deciding factor for you, we can send you additional photographs taken in natural light to get as close as possible to the true tone.
Patina and cleaning
Many pieces have a patina as a natural consequence of the passage of time. We do not remove it, as it may have taken decades to form and, in many cases, contributes to the character and appearance of the piece.
If you decide to clean or polish a piece, do so with caution and keeping the material in mind. Improper cleaning can alter its surface, patina, appearance, and in some cases, its value. If you need guidance on cleaning a specific material, contact us and we will help you.
