A rare antique Ottoman snuff box, dating from around 1750-1800, a real gem for antique collectors and Ottoman history buffs. Made from a silver-plated metal alloy with a contrasting hinge, this oval box is distinguished by its classic design and detailed hand-made engravings.
On the front of the box there is a scene of a woman (Meryem) surrounded by different elements, such as a vase or a chalice, and nature, all on a finely dotted background. The lower part, i.e. the base of the box, continues the floral theme, with large hand-engraved flowers that demonstrate remarkable craftsmanship.
This box was used to store medicinal pills, poisons, powders, ENFIE tobacco or other solids. Although it shows a rough and handcrafted feel, the shapes and details are clear and of high quality, confirming its authenticity and originality in keeping with the Ottoman style of the time.
This piece is extremely rare and an important find for collectors, as it offers a genuine sample of the artistic splendor of the Ottoman Empire. Ideal for those with a deep interest in Turkish history and Ottoman goldsmithing.
