Antique pewter bottle of Guerlain ointment, France, 1880s

Out of stock

A great find: this Guerlain ointment jar, "Baume de la Ferté," from the 1880s, is a gem for antique collectors. The small cylindrical container, made of pewter, features a lid engraved with Guerlain's historic address, 15 Rue de la Paix, used between 1842 and 1914, which encapsulates a specific era for the House of Guerlain before its move to the famous Champs-Élysées address.

Created around 1830, Baume de la Ferté was formulated as an emollient balm to soothe dryness and cracks on the nipples of nursing mothers. Its composition included tannins from Bordeaux wine production, benzoin, beeswax, and almond oil—ingredients that also made it ideal for calming chapped lips.

Ideal for collectors of vintage Guerlain jewelry and lovers of perfume history, this balm is a unique piece that reflects Guerlain's exceptional tradition and quality.
