Victorian perfume bottle for chatelaine, fluted silver, shaped
Victorian perfume bottle for chatelaine, fluted silver, shaped
Out of stock
This Victorian perfume bottle is made of silver with a fluted spiral design reminiscent of a seashell. We attribute this piece to EGP, Eustace George Parker, although we have not been able to confirm this with certainty, and date it circa 1890-1900. It features official hallmarks and a small chain that reflects its original use: hanging from a chatelaine, the practical belt accessory Victorian ladies wore around their waists.
These perfume bottles or scented salts were essential objects both for their function and their aesthetic appeal. They were used to hold essences that helped combat fainting spells or counteract unpleasant odors.
This piece represents not only the sophisticated utilitarian design of the era, but also the role of women as bearers of luxurious, functional objects. This chatelaine perfume bottle is ideal for collectors of antique silverware, Victorian artifacts, or perfume history enthusiasts. A perfect gift for collectors.
