Antique openwork silver religious medal with an elegant Gothic trefoil design framing the image of Christ on the cross. On the reverse, the inscription "SC Balaguer" refers to the Holy Christ of Balaguer, venerated in the church of the same name, located in Balaguer, Lleida (Catalonia), a temple protected as a Local Cultural Asset.

This medal, dating from between 1900 and 1920, is a beautiful example of Catalan devotional jewelry of the period. Pieces of this type were used as amulets of protection and faith, worn on scapulars or necklaces, and offered as gifts on pilgrimages or at key moments in spiritual life.
