Solid French silver Vesta matchbox or case, signed by the renowned goldsmith Charles Murat, a leading figure in French Art Nouveau. The piece features an exquisite high-relief design with lily-of-the-valley motifs, a flower associated in France with good luck and love.

Rectangular in shape with a hinged lid, the case retains its French hallmarks, including the rhomboid stamp with the silversmith's initials (CM), as well as the inscription "DEPOSÉ," which guarantees the protection of the design.

This object was created around 1900, during the Belle Époque, and reflects the fusion of functionality and artistry that characterized personal accessories of the era. It was originally used to protect matches from friction, preventing them from being accidentally ignited.
